This time last week if you’d offered me four points out of nine over this key run of home games I’d have been a little disappointed. Right now I’d jump at the prospect!
There hasn’t been a bigger game at The Racecourse since the Boston showdown, and we need a win. It wouldn’t take us off the bottom of the table, but we can’t allow that big gap between us and safety to remain for much longer; it brings with it a real danger of it growing every time we don’t win a game.
And we’re up against…

- Fixture Backlog Could Return To Haunt Us - It looks like we could lose another game on November 18th, as our home match with Forest Green Rovers coincides with the Welsh Semi-Professional side’s game with Finland in Llanelli. Confirmation is expected this week, but with three of our players expected to be called up-and I believe Silvio might also be called up that week-we’re looking at another postponement. With the favoured, November date for a rearrangement of the Histon game already ruled out for that game, there’s a real danger… Read Fixture Backlog Could Return To Haunt Us at Marks Wrexham FC Blog ...
- Done Gone - I’m not going to pretend I wasn’t disappointed that Matty Done didn’t sign a new contract for us, although it wasn’t much of a surprise bearing in mind the time the decision was taking and a crytpic comment from Brian Little last week which implied he wasn’t holding his breath over a deal. I think he could have been a real force in The Conference with his pace and direct approach. However, there is another side to the argument and, though I’m not totally convinced by it, I’m going to trot it… Read Done Gone at Marks Wrexham FC...

- Glorious Mud! - A Midfield Scene From Wrexham v MK Dons I miss the mud that helped us beat MK Dons and Darlington, and I want it back! When it was sopping wet and cutting up against MK Dons and Darlington we seemed to thrive on it. Dry, rutted and smothered in sand today it just wouldn’t let us play football and we struggled to piece our game together. If it doesn’t improve soon we could find it a real handicap as we try to haul ourselves to safety. Unable to pass as we would have wished, with touch players… Read Glorious...
- Great result-now let’s get back to business! - It’s odd to feel we’re still bottom after a fighting win at Chester like today’s! I suppose it shows that the Chester game is something separate from reality. As I’ve suggested before, it’s a game which feels different from the others, a game where the usual rules of engagement don’t apply. Thankfully it fell in our favour and even if there is a sense of the Chester derby being unlike any other league game, those three points feel real enough to me! We rode our luck as Gavin Ward’s… Read Great result-now let’s get back to business! at Marks...
- Allen Shines Again - Having seen his superb debut on Tuesday it was interesting to ahve a second look at Joe Allen in the Wales-England Under-21 game tonight. Admittedly he came on with only about twenty minutes left, but again he showed enough spark, movement and intelligence to suggest he’s much too good for the Conference. Let’s hope we can keep him for a while longer; after all, the postponement of the Histon game robs us of his services for a match unless we can rearrange it while he’s still with us… Read Allen Shines Again at Marks Wrexham FC Blog ...
- Time for fighting spirit - I’m not sure what the opposite of a summit meeting is, a base camp meeting perhaps, but that’s what the Mansfield game was. And I think it’s fair to say it didn’t exactly turn out as planned. Still, it certainly isn’t the end of the road although, caught up in the emotion of the non-occasion, it felt like it was when we were 1-0 down while Macclesfield were 1-0 up and safety was theoretically nine points away. Thankfully things changed by the end of the game, although not as much as we might… Read Time for fighting spirit at...
- Oh great! - There was a post on Red Passion after we played at Peterborough earlier this month which made a very good point. As Darren Ferguson made his rather pathetic attack on us, there was a danger that some of the mud would stick. We weren’t a voilent bunch of thugs, Steve Evans certainly didn’t taking a running jump and butt their goalkeeper, who of course was able to play just three days later despite the suggestion that he was fatally wounded after the game, and we played much more good football… Read Oh great! at Marks Wrexham FC Blog ...

- We Might Go Up A Place!! - I know it’s a touch desperate, but we might go up a place in the Conference without kicking a ball! The season starts here! Alright, I’ll drop the sarcasm, but there could be real upheaval in the table if Mansfield are docked points for fielding an ineligible player in Aaron O’Connor. They gained eight points in the games he played before the matter was addressed, so if the usual precedent is followed they’d lose them and the table would look like this. However, an interesting article in Non… Read We Might Go Up A Place!! at Marks Wrexham FC...
