I must register my surprise at what happened last Saturday. Not at the fact that Brian Little left the club; in fact the odd element of that was how the news seemed to shock people. I was under the impression that it was the worst kept secret in football; as I understand it he hadn’t seen the players since that awful night against Rushden, and I’ve been led to believe that some of them drew the same conclusion as I did. Namely, he wasn’t there because he was being eased out of the way.

No,…

  • Too Bad To Be Easy - Let me tell you something which worries me. Chester are in awful form. I know I should be glad, but it seems we have a horrible habit of breaking teams' bad runs. Chester have certainly been in an awful state lately. In their last fifteen games they've won one and drawn two. Their last clean sheet was straight after they'd drawn 2-2 with us in Brian Little's first game as our boss, eighteen games ago in early December, and the only time they've kept the opposition at bay in twenty-three... • It’s Time For Nicholson! - I admit Stuart Nicholson hasn't been too threatening up front for us, but I hope he starts tomorrow night. My reasoning? It's quite simple. Paul Hall is returning from injury and is no spring chicken, so asking him to play two games in three days seems a bit daft. Add in the fact that while Nicholson hasn't been terrifying defenders with his predatory instincts, he does work his socks off stopping them from getting forward, and he might be just the defensive forward we need for a tough away... • Goodbye Jonah - Brian Little told us to be prepared for some of our favourites to leave, and this morning I had to break the news to my ten-year-old lad that his favourite player is on his way. Ben's attachment to Mark Jones is possibly historical; his first season watching football coincided with Jones' annus mirabilis, scoring nearly twenty goals from midfield in a mediocre side. In fact, maybe they weren't even that; as we slipped off the play-off pace two years ago, dropping points hand over fist, I... Read Goodbye Jonah at Marks Wrexham FC Blog...
  • Saunders Makes At Least One Family Happy! - Fab fact of the day: of the ten goals we've scored so far under Dean Saunders, six have come from the Williams brothers! Proof of his motivational abilities, as he inspires both of them to achieve the best scoring streaks of their careers? Or something rather more basic? It's hard to score if you're not on the pitch, and neither Williams brother made a start under Little this season. Perhaps it's all down to common sense; if you put your best players on the pitch you've a better chance of... Read Saunders Makes At Least One Family Happy! at Marks...
  • Borough Better Than You Think - No Wrexham fan expects us to swan into the Conference and sweep everything before us-two years of awful football have taught us not to have grand aspirations! Ironically, the 5-0 beating of the pre-season title favourites last Saturday has only reinforced that sense of respect for the Blue Square Premier. Stevenage might have defended poorly, but their approach play was superior to virtually anything we saw in League Two last season. Their commitment to keeping the ball on the floor was... • Waiting For Evo - So we might find out what's going to happen with Steve Evans soon. Or perhaps not. It feels odd to not really be all that bothered. I always thought a side which is relegated to the Conference would have a nightmare trying to hang onto its talent, so it seems strange to feel fairly ambivalent about whether a current international should stay or not. That's were I am over this though. I guess it's the fact that Evans has made too many mistakes this season. As Brian Little says, he has all... Read Waiting For Evo at Marks Wrexham FC...
