Brian Little told us to be prepared for some of our favourites to leave, and this morning I had to break the news to my ten-year-old lad that his favourite player is on his way.
Ben’s attachment to Mark Jones is possibly historical; his first season watching football coincided with Jones’ annus mirabilis, scoring nearly twenty goals from midfield in a mediocre side. In fact, maybe they weren’t even that; as we slipped off the play-off pace two years ago, dropping points hand over fist, I…

- The Jones Enigma - Good luck to Mark Jones if his move to Peterborough materialises. There have been many disappointments over the last few years, but our failure to see the likes of Jones and Matty Done fulfil their potential with us is right up there. Jones developed from a frail youth into a fine goalscoring midfield, but then like a flash of gunpowder it was gone and a player who clearly depended on his confidence to perform fell into a self-fulfilling tailspin of poor form. You can see why John Toshack and... Read The Jones Enigma at Marks Wrexham FC Blog...

Is he part of Brian Little's future plans? He has nothing lined up after West Brom let him go last week, and plainly he'd like to stay. That's not awfully surprising; he doesn't look full of goals at League Two level, although to be fair to him, he has brought certain qualities to the side. He has a lot fo energy and decent pace, and works terrifically hard. No wonder... Read at Marks Wrexham FC Blog...

- Baynes covets midfield role - Wes Baynes has made no secret of the fact that he wants to make the right side of Wrexham's midfield his own when the Blue Square Premier kicks off on August 9. Read Baynes covets midfield role at Evening Leader...
- Foyled - I must register my surprise at what happened last Saturday. Not at the fact that Brian Little left the club; in fact the odd element of that was how the news seemed to shock people. I was under the impression that it was the worst kept secret in football; as I understand it he hadn't seen the players since that awful night against Rushden, and I've been led to believe that some of them drew the same conclusion as I did. Namely, he wasn't there because he was being eased out of the way. No,... Read Foyled at Marks Wrexham...
- Done Gone - I'm not going to pretend I wasn't disappointed that Matty Done didn't sign a new contract for us, although it wasn't much of a surprise bearing in mind the time the decision was taking and a crytpic comment from Brian Little last week which implied he wasn't holding his breath over a deal. I think he could have been a real force in The Conference with his pace and direct approach. However, there is another side to the argument and, though I'm not totally convinced by it, I'm going to trot it... Read Done Gone at Marks Wrexham FC Blog...
- Two More Years of Little - http://www.wrexhamafc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10311~1287208,00.html As reported above, Brian Little has signed a two year contract with the club. I hope it's the beginning of the end of the grimmest period in our history, but there've been so many false dawns lately that I feel I can only feel hopefully once something concrete has been achieved. Little rightly points out that we should judge him once he is able to put together his own side. I accept this to an extent; most managers... Read Two More Years of Little at Marks Wrexham FC Blog...
- Always Look on the Bright Side of Life - Funny game football. You spend three years depressed then pop down to Wiltshire and everything seems fine in the world. Bang and the hurt is gone! You might caution me to show a little more perspective, but since when was supporting a football team, especially Wrexham, about getting things into context? Or am I wrong? Perhaps I should look at the bigger picture. We were all moping around about our poor away form last week, but haven't we lost just one of our last five away games? Didn't we... - Spirit Wins The Day - As I've coughed up for a share of Myfc, I suppose I was bound to be satisfied with the result however it went yesterday! Ebbsfleet certainly played the better football, something which is happening too often this season for my liking, but apart from Long's delivery from corners, which was terrific, the final ball wasn't as good as the excellent approach play. In fact according to my notes from commentary the only two chances which didn't come from set pieces were down to glaring defensive... Read Spirit Wins The Day at Marks Wrexham FC Blog...
- Waiting For Evo - So we might find out what's going to happen with Steve Evans soon. Or perhaps not. It feels odd to not really be all that bothered. I always thought a side which is relegated to the Conference would have a nightmare trying to hang onto its talent, so it seems strange to feel fairly ambivalent about whether a current international should stay or not. That's were I am over this though. I guess it's the fact that Evans has made too many mistakes this season. As Brian Little says, he has all... Read Waiting For Evo at Marks Wrexham FC...
