The Maths Doesn’t Add Up!

Up to seventh with games in hand on just about everyone above us. Not bad considering the fact that, incredibly, we’ve played more away games AND fewer home games than anyone else in the league!!!

  • Tortured Maths - I don’t usually see much point in trying to predict runs of matches to see how a league table will end up; recent results at the bottom of League Two show why that’s a mug’s game! However, I’m so desperate to see us somehow dig ourselves out of this mess that I feel a need to work out the likely results the other sides will achieve, just to see if I really do believe we can make it, so here goes. Assuming we beat our rivals in the big head-to-heads, as we surely have to in order to survive,…...
  • Do the Maths - I’ve seen the future and it’s pure maths! There’s a clear mathematical progression to Wrexham’s managerial appointments, and following it allows us to work out just who will be appointed in the future! Just take a look at our last five managers: Brian Flynn Denis Smith Brian Carey Brian Little Dean Saunders So it’s Brian, DS, Brian, Brian, DS. Logically then, the pattern will continue like this: Brian DS Brian Brian DS Brian Brian Brian DS So I can exclusively reveal that our next four… Read Do the Maths at Marks Wrexham FC Blog ...
  • Fab Fact of the Day! - If you thought our fixtures were coming out rather peculiarly, don’t mention it to a Kettering fan tomorrow, because their recent pattern of games is ridiculous. Dean Saunders has been manager for ten games before tomorrow’s, and only three were at The Racecourse. However, tomorrow’s game is Kettering’s their 6th away game in a row, and before that run they played 6 consecutive games at home! Read Fab Fact of the Day! at Marks Wrexham FC Blog ...
  • It’s still in our own hands! - I said a while ago that you have to be patient when climbing from the bottom of the table, but sometimes I have to remind myself of that fact so I don’t lose faith. Last night’s result sees us four points shy of safety with two very tough away games to go, but we just mustn’t panic. I must admit that if you’d told me five games ago that we’d still be unbeaten now I’d have thought we’d have climbed off the bottom at least; some of these sides are getting results are getting ridiculous results…. • Cup of Woe - Steve’s blog makes an excellent point about fixture congestion, and I fear our improved form could make it even worse. After the first round of the F.A. Trophy there are no weekends set aside should we make further progress. The designated weekends seem to constantly clash with when we go down to the South East, so we could get a backlog of awkward games in the Home Counties to make up in midweek just when we’re trying to pick up some league momentum. Having said that, there is a way to… Read Cup of Woe at Marks Wrexham FC...
  • Johnson Gets a Call-up - And there’s more! Josh Johnson has had his first call-up to the full Trinidad squad! Going to Rhyl looks to have really done something for him; wonder if he’s one who we ought to have held onto? With Neil Roberts, Danny Williams and Jamie Reed at Belle Vue too, there might be a few on the coast who feel that way. Mind you, if they win their games in hand they’ll be top of the league, so maybe they’re having a gratifying time anyway. With Gareth Owen, James Kelly, George Horan and Jamie Digwood… Read Johnson Gets a Call-up...
  • D-Day - Well, this is it! About to set off for a game that could well leave us out of the Football League to all intents and purposes. Mansfield’s home form is abysmal and they’ll have a capacity of less than 5,000 to try to roar them on, but then we’ve played teams in this sort of form before and generously played them into form-remember Dagenham? At least in the last two games we’ve been creating chances, and at barnet we even started taking them! Sadly, we also defended as poorly as we have… Read D-Day at Marks Wrexham FC Blog...
  • Goodbye Jonah - Brian Little told us to be prepared for some of our favourites to leave, and this morning I had to break the news to my ten-year-old lad that his favourite player is on his way. Ben’s attachment to Mark Jones is possibly historical; his first season watching football coincided with Jones’ annus mirabilis, scoring nearly twenty goals from midfield in a mediocre side. In fact, maybe they weren’t even that; as we slipped off the play-off pace two years ago, dropping points hand over fist, I… Read Goodbye Jonah at Marks Wrexham FC Blog ...
  • Foyled - I must register my surprise at what happened last Saturday. Not at the fact that Brian Little left the club; in fact the odd element of that was how the news seemed to shock people. I was under the impression that it was the worst kept secret in football; as I understand it he hadn’t seen the players since that awful night against Rushden, and I’ve been led to believe that some of them drew the same conclusion as I did. Namely, he wasn’t there because he was being eased out of the way. No,… Read Foyled at Marks...
