We Are Real Madrid!

I was listening to the excellent podcast Stags Talk the other day and was enormously heartened! They were reflecting on the F.A. Trophy draw which paired them with us at The on the weekend after next, and you’ve just got to hear it to believe it. They spoke of us with such respect-and posters on their message board did the same.

I’ve never heard us described in such terms before-you’d think they’d drawn Manchester United or Real Madrid! They felt the journey was a…

  • Too Bad To Be Easy - Let me tell you something which worries me. Chester are in awful form. I know I should be glad, but it seems we have a horrible habit of breaking teams’ bad runs. Chester have certainly been in an awful state lately. In their last fifteen games they’ve won one and drawn two. Their last clean sheet was straight after they’d drawn 2-2 with us in Brian Little’s first game as our boss, eighteen games ago in early December, and the only time they’ve kept the opposition at bay in twenty-three… Read Too Bad To Be Easy at Marks Wrexham...
  • Fixture Delight! - There might not be a game on Saturday, but does this weekend marks a watershed in our season already? I’m not being daft; I know nothing is decided at this point of the season, and the drive back to Rushden reminded me to be cautious. You can’t listen to a procession of twits on radio phone-ins handing the title to Chelsea and writing Manchester United off after one game without being reminded that nothing is won in August. However, I do think we’re already reached a key juncture in our… Read Fixture Delight! at Marks Wrexham FC Blog ...
  • Wayne Price - Election Address and CV - My name is Wayne Price, 35, based in Manchester and have been a fan since my dad took me to my first game, when we lost to Mansfield in May1977. If you need to put a face to a name, I was one of the guys who did the sponsored walk from The Racecourse to Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium for the LDV trophy final and won the first WST’s Fans’ extra mile award. All those who have put themselves up for election have been invited to state what potential we think we would add to the WST board. I like...
  • Ever Felt You’ve Been Cheated? - I have to confess I haven’t paid to see a Wrexham game for about ten years. Having commentated or reported on them for a bit, on and off, I’ve been lucky enough not to have to cough up for what they serve up. That doesn’t stop me thinking about value for money though. Part of the way through commentating on today’s game I had to ask myself “Do Wrexham fan’s deserve to be treated like this?” The fans paid full price to watch the game, and what did they get? An experimental side in a… Read Ever Felt You’ve...

  • Saunders Finds His Man - Terry Darracott! Now there’s a name to conjure with! As a child watching football for the first time, Darracott’s arrival at The Racecourse was quite something to me. It was the second season that I’d been watching Wrexham, and he was the first player I’d actually heard to sign for us. My horizons were pretty limited so to see a player from the First Division, a player whose Panini sticker I’d collected the season before, was quite something! My first sight of him didn’t let me down either…. Read Saunders Finds His Man at Marks Wrexham FC Blog ...

  • Tremarco in the Cold - Sam Williamson has confirmed what we were told from the start: he wants to stay permanently at The Racecourse. That’s good news: he has grown from game to game since his arrival on loan from Manchester City and continues to add to the impression that Dean Saunders has an eye for a good player. The fact that he brought him in at all interesting though, as we already seem to have the left back position well covered. We know Saunders rates Neil Taylor; he made him a teenage skipper for Heaven’s… Read Tremarco in the Cold at Marks Wrexham...
